Today we get to share a guest post from one of our very own iron sharpens iron friends; Tiffany Harper. . .
Ephesians 2:14 For He Himself is our leave, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.
If we read in context Ephesians 2, it is a rather dreary and hopeless, not to mention horrific account of who we are without God. It is terrifying to think of where we were headed without Jesus.
Without hope. Lost as sinners in our own flesh and desires and outbursts. Reconciliation and a relationship with God not possible. But check this out:
“Through the person, sacrifice, and mediation of Christ, sinners are allowed to draw near to God as a Father, and are brought with acceptance into his presence, with their worship and services, under the teaching of the Holy Spirit, as one with the Father and the Son.” (Matthew Henry Commentary)
We have a tendency to make Peace a feeling. An experience. But truly, when you dig into Scripture, Peace is Simply this:
It is a gift, a promise, bestowed on those who choose Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It is the assurance of our salvation and that as sinners who were once so far off, have been reconciled to Him. We have immediate access to God and assurance of our eternity with Him.
The peace of Christ is not a feeling, because the world can not describe it nor can they create anything like it.
It is a precious gift to us. The gift of Peace.
